I've finally started recruiting patients the last week. It's an observational study on brainwaves. It requires sticking 4 sticky probes on the kid's forehead and measuring data from a machine. Sounds simple enough?
BUT, some parents are very anxious about their children - FAIR ENOUGH. So I get some rejections at times. It's pretty harsh sometimes. "No". ".mm... thats okay." (but to me - it's really NOT okay...) >_<

yeh, i have two new friends. just met them yesterday. one of them is a family friend. the other one is a friend of that family friend. ANYWAY, yeh took them around GW. had lunch with my HKie friends. then make them go to jells park coz the weather was so great. and there they met my church frds - so they could finally try to learn Australian English. ha ha...

*Avocado Dipping*
Yay... I actually did some 'cooking' today. it was more just chopping and mixing... ha ha.. made an avocado dipping:
avocado, tomato, cucumber, danish fette cheese, sun-dried tomatos, red onions. ~yummy~ it's Rene's recipe. We made that twice in cell hangouts. absolutely addictive. with some petta bread. ^_^

I've been having 3 extremely boring days at RCH. nothing to do. all I do is msn, emailing, observe surgeries, waiting for ethics approval (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)...

went into a theatre where CB was. i really did get a shock when i saw the patient. he has a gigantic head, size of a baseketball. There's a HUGE cyst in his face. Feel so sad though... how would someone like this cope? And it's congenital too and getting bigger....
So here's the medical team trying to excise this cyst.
and guess what? i did my first catheter today! I put a tube through his ureter of the penis.
Funny msn conversation with Jez... he knows i've been watching a lot of circumcisions and he likes to tease me about it... there goes the convo:
"how is your day?"
"it's a really good day! I gotta do stuff in theatre!""what ? you touched penis?""..ha ha ha........... how did u know? I catheterise!"anyway and then the surgeons were about to do a tracheotomy. The surgeon was SOOO nice.... She asked me to scrub in to 'help out'. So I did my 10 million washing of my hands and put the gown on. I helped to hold the gigantic head in place. *tiring* but i got to see everything that's going on. though i had no idea what the anatomy is when the surgeon asked questiosn... ha ha... watever... i'll learn one day.
had a lonely lunchtime coz dorz and steph didnt' come in today. thats okay i had about 48 emails or something to entertain myself.
then i went to the fiji anaesthetist and he let me do IVs (needle through veins). I missed the first one, and tried again but i buggered up....... >__< then i succeeded in the next 2 patients. YAY. ha ha...
the bit of medicine that makes an anaesthetist ecstatic is the "flush back" on the cannula....*sigh*
for an ENT (ear nose throat) surgeon, it's taking out the tonsil with no bleeding.... *sigh*
LOL....
Really shouldn't take my unique ams experience for granted...
Busyness II
(oh and i figured out the "new" function of photo upload on blogspot! yeh. i'm slow. so are u steph.)Yet another busy day~
in the morning, i helped out in the church kitchen. I was learning how to make froth with the coffee machine!! *Too difficult*. ha ha... But it was fun.
Then went home to assemble this new shelf that my parents bought from Ikea. (yeh they went there AGAIN to exchange the drawer set we bought yesterday) Anyway, I had fun assembling ~ haha...Nailing is actually quite fun. but i made a few mistakes, leaving some permenant scars on the shelf.. oh wellz. hope my parents havent noticed. kekeke see how long it takes them !
Then cousins came over and we watched Final Fantasy - okay, everyone, i did NOT watch the advent children. i watched the spirit within. And yes i've been told by 5 people on separate occasions that the spirit within is not really final fantasy... and it has crap storyline.. blah blah...
Wendy's baptism~ It was great! Just wanna congratulate you once again!! God will take you somewhere far! And He's smiling at you for the work you've done for Him!!!

Then steph and I went to my place to bum around. There wasn't much to do at my house. she just looked at my wardrobe....my new jacket and ball dresses. ha ha... Tried to watch this canto movie but it was in mandarin.. and it frustrateD steph!
Then went to the new sofia in burwood east to celebrate Andrew's 20th bday~ What a great turn out! We had so much fun.. Steph and J .... ha ha... Should I stop here, steph? full of laughter tonight... some serious *teasing* too.... some bagging.... some embarrassing moments.... some spilling of water..... some photos taken......(thats a HUGE under-statement)..... some food....... GELATI!...... some bonding.....

Busyness
Do you ever have the feeling that weekend is not really a break? I'm so exhausted and it's only a Saturday night. I was almost dreading the w/end on Friday... It's a lot to do with the struggle to fit all my social, personal and family events together - in a fashion that is pleasing to my parents. (Going out with friends is never a pleasing thing for them anyway...)
So today I got up at 7:30 like any other working day (*MAD*). Took mum to the country road basement sale in Richmond. (nearly ran a red light... *PRAISE GOD*)
We got there kinda early so we had to wait in the cold for a few minutes. I wasn't expecting it to be any good. I thought all the good stock would've been gone after the Friday sales. But to my surprise, i managed to find a casual jacket and a woolen knit wear. Such a good bargain for CR. ^_^
Mum was ecstatic (I was gonna say "went crazy".) that she found the pants that she wanted in the shops. They are like SUPER cheap compared to usual. (and i really mean *SUPER*) I'm glad she was happy. haha... guess we're both quite materialistic...
and then we went to IKEA to buy a drawer set that requires self pick-up *AND* self assembling. (and when we got home, we realised there was no assembling instruction booklet and apparently there's something wrong with one of the wooden piece) pretty difficult to manage a heavy box for 2 fragile females...
then drove back. this car ran a red light from the opposite direciton as i was about to turn right. lucky i didn't turn.... man.. all those crazy drivers out there....
After that I went straight to Monash Uni to participate in this psychology research. It was a 45 min session on memory work, requiring me to listen to a few letters and numbers and remember them... The researcher really appreciated our effort so she gave us a bag a chocolates and goods~
Then we went to maccas to grab some food. then played badminton with the rest of the cell members + friends. Originally we booked 1crt for2 hrs and 1crt for 1 hr. Somehow we managed to have 3 crts for 2 hrs... YAY. such a good turn out today - a lot more than we expected.
and yeh Happy Birthday To Joy~ we had a cake on the courts. ha ha..
And then rushed straight home for a quick shower and went to church to meet up with a friend that i invited. A bit late so we sat on the FRONT ROW on the right. was sitting with YA pastor for the first time and i felt so special that he remembered me and even my name "SEEMUN" on my email... ha ha... The service was good, very well presented, tailored for visitors~ amazing testimonies too.
Then i had to rush home for dinner coz everyone was waiting for me...
and did some ironing, packing up, calling up for the sofia dinner tmrw....
Now i haf some time to myself...... but it's yet another full day tmrw... >__< how i miss a relaxing weekend.

Okay another entry about my AMS sup... He's a strange fella. okay, steph, please don't let your sup EVER get to my blog. *PLEASE*
he has this weird way of responding: "mmhmm" to every question... Or he just does it for fun...
I was quietly "working" (msning, emailing) at the computer. And there comes my sup. I felt like being polite so I said "Hello." Then there was a silence period. He goes "mmhmmm". Then we quietly work at our own computer. 10 mins of silence later, he goes "mmhmmm" out of nowhere. I've had enough so I said "Are you going to speak English?" He replies promptly "nope".
This "mmhmmm" thing has become super infectious... Steph and I can't help saying it to one another - like, WHENEVER we feel like it. We even do it in front of my sup. I think he's come to notice our mocking... *shrug*...
I'm trying to have a non-mmhmm day tomorrow. Let's see how I go...

*Cell Multiplication*
There we have it. After a long drag, we're finally here. My gigantic 22 ppl (+) cell has finally multiplied into TWO.
On the weekend, we had a multiplication party at Darren's house. What a nice house! in a nice suburb too~ It has a lovely deck outside. We had a pleasant lunch there. Thanks to our ironchef - JOSH - who cooked for us. Thanks Rene for the BEAUTIFUL Danish avocado dip.
Some guys just couldn't help but play on the piano, guitar... and yeh they sang Westlife too. Not bad not bad~keke... We could start a new boyband ANYDAY!
I'm going to miss the other half of the cell~ Such a lovely bunch of brothers and sisters in Christ. It's just amazing how God has added in number. He has stretched us so much that we're at a stage of EXPLOSION. It surely going to be a new experience for me. I've never been through multiplication before. As I was saying in the cells blog, it's almost like giving childbirth. At the start, the baby will cry. Gradually it'll learn to smile, laugh and live~
So this Wednesday will be the official 1st CELL!!! So how do i feel now? I try to avoid thinking about the separation from all the other cell members eg Steph, Mel, Josh (just mentioning u guys coz u actually read my blog..). I'm using DENIAL as a coping strategy. I mean, I still get to see most of them on Saturday at badminton/tennis/etc. As social butterflies, I'm sure they'll all meet up outside Cell time... =)
However, I'll miss the time when the gigantic cell (of 20) yelled across the house, hitting one another with soccer balls.... the time when I had to control the "class" during the annoucement time, the time when we had to come early to find parking on the street (!), when there were 5 million shoes outside the house, when we couldn't decide on anything coz we had 2 million ideas, when we couldn't sleep on each other's tummy for the Ha-ha game coz there were too many of us, when we received 10 emails within a span of 1 hr, when I had to organise carpooling for 22 ppl...(in *frustration*), when I had to think SO HARD to remember the attendances to write up my cell report, when I had to collect 50 million dollars for birthday presents...
Those were the days that I will miss ~
But let us march forward ~ I am quite excited about this new cell of ~10 people. I love brand new start~ It's "fantabulous" (2005, Chen)!!!!! God, Bring it On! What have You got for us?

My sup and I were in the small, cosy office - busy doing work on our own computer. There comes along another 'roommate'. (an English Anaesthetist)
I asked "Do you need to use the computer?"
Englishman "No, it's okay. I just want to read here."
my sup gave a puzzled look "eh?" Then he commanded "Don't use up too much oxygen."
